- 1 2/3 cups chopped dates
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
Directions

1Heat oven to 350*.

2Butter a 4x8 loaf pan.

3Put all ingredients except flour in saucepan and stir on low heat until butter is melted.

4Set aside to cool for 10 minutes.

5Add the flour; mix well.

6Pour into pan.

7Bake for 45 minutes, or until pick in middle comes out clean.
