- 3 c. self-rising flour
- 3/4 c. cold lard (must be cold)
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. plus 1/4 (as needed) buttermilk
Directions

1Combine self-rising flour and cold lard.

2Add baking powder. Cut in until mealy.

3Add buttermilk.

4Let stand for 5 minutes. Flour your counter or tabletop and roll biscuit mixture into a ball.

5Knead gently 8 to 12 times.

6Roll out and cut about 1/2 inch thick.

7Melt a cup of butter and dip each cut biscuit into the butter.

8Place on a baking sheet and bake at 400° about 10 minutes or until brown.
