  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 lb. raw peanuts
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in a Dutch oven; cook over low heat to soft-crack stage (270°).

    Stir in peanuts; cook to hard-crack stage (300°).

    Remove from heat.

    Stir in butter, soda, salt and vanilla.

    Pour into 2 warm buttered 15 x 10 x 1-inch jelly roll pans and spread to edges of pan.

    Cool and break into pieces. Yield:
