  • 1 c. sliced onions
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1/2 c. shortening or oil
  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak, cut into serving pieces
  • 2 c. canned tomatoes or stewed tomatoes
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pinch each of pepper and paprika

    In large skillet, saute onions and garlic in shortening or oil until golden brown.

    Remove onions.

    Dredge pieces of steak in seasoned flour.

    Saute until well browned.
