  • 1 1/2 qt. white vinegar
  • 2 1/2 qt. water
  • 1 cup pickling salt
  • 1 hot pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
  • Fresh dill to cover bottom of each jar or 1 Tbsp. dill seed
  • 1/8 tsp. alum
  • Fresh cucumbers

Directions

    Mix the vinegar, water and salt together and bring to a hard boil.

    Place the next four ingredients in each jar.

    Add cucumbers.

    Pour liquid mixture into each jar.

    Seal jars.

    Set jars in hot water and boil for 10 minutes to seal the jars. Gently turn the jars to mix the spices.
