- 1/8 tsp. powdered alum
- 1 clove garlic
- grape leaves
- 3 qt. water
- 2 heads dill
- 1 hot red pepper
- 1 c. salt
- 1 qt. vinegar
- cucumbers
Directions

1Wash cucumbers.

2Cover with hot water and let stand until hot through.

3Pack into hot jars.

4To each quart, add the listed amounts of alum, dill, pepper and garlic with a grape leaf or two. Combine vinegar, salt and water.

5Heat to boiling, fill jars and seal.

6Makes 6 to 8 quarts.

7Put in hot water in a large pot on stove for 20 minutes or more, then remove from water.
