   Stir sugar, corn syrup, water and salt until dissolved.

   Boil to spin thread stage (240°).

   While syrup is cooking, beat egg whites until stiff.

   Slowly pour 1/2 of syrup over egg whites, beating constantly.

   Cook remaining syrup to crack stage (265°). Slowly pour heavy syrup in candy mixture and continue beating. When mixture holes its shape, add vanilla and nuts and drop from teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet.
