Directions

   Mix ingredients and cook, stirring constantly until mixture forms a hard ball when dropped into cold water.

   Add mixture to 2 stiffly beaten egg whites.

   Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup pecans, if desired.

   Stir until almost cool.

   Drop by the spoonful onto waxed paper.
