- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. white corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine the first 4 ingredients. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar melts and mixture boils.

2Continue cooking, without stirring, until small amount of syrup forms hard ball in cold water.

3Pour slowly over the stiffly beaten egg whites.

4Add the vanilla, beating until candy holds shape when dropped from spoon.

5Pour into buttered pan and cut in squares. (I drop mine by spoonfuls on buttered surface; it's prettier.)
