- 2 2/3 c. sugar
- 2/3 c. corn syrup
- 2/3 c. boiling water
- 2 very stiffly beaten egg whites
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- nuts (if desired)
Directions

1Boil the first 3 ingredients to about 252° on candy thermometer or until sugar mixture forms threads when lifted from the pan. Slowly add about 1/2 of the sugar mixture to the stiffly beaten egg whites, beating constantly.

2Return the sugar to the heat and continue to boil for about 7 more minutes.

3Keep the egg mixture beating.

4Add the rest of the sugar mixture gradually and continue to beat.

5Add the vanilla.

6It will get stiffer.

7Add nuts, if desired, and immediately drop by teaspoon onto waxed paper.

8Allow to dry somewhat before storing.

9Keep in cool place, not refrigerator however.
