   Boil sugar and syrup to hard ball stage.

   Beat egg whites and salt until stands in peaks.

   Pour into syrup while still beating slowly.

   Add vanilla; beat until dull and loses glossy look, then add nuts.

   Spoon onto waxed paper.

   Makes 27 to 30 pieces.
