- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 4 c. flour (plain)
- 1 c. milk, warmed
Directions

1Soak yeast for 10 minutes in lukewarm water.

2Mix shortening, sugar, salt and egg.

3Add to yeast, then add flour and milk.

4Let rise until doubled.

5Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness.

6Cut doughnuts out and let rise again.

7Fry in deep oil until golden brown.

8Glaze with powdered sugar and milk mixture.
