- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter, cut up
- 1/2 lb. cooking apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped (1 1/4 c.)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Butter and flour 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 3/4-inch loaf pan.

2Line bottom of dish with waxed paper.

4Preheat oven to 350°.

5Sift flour, sugar and baking powder into large bowl with a pastry blender or knives; cut in butter until mixture resembles fine meal.

6Toss chopped apple in flour mixture; set aside.

7In small bowl, whisk together egg and milk until blended. Stir into apple mixture until mixed.

8(Batter will be stiff.) Spread batter evenly in pan.

9Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until knife comes out clean.
