- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water; stir in sugar, half of flour and salt.

2Beat with a spoon until smooth.

3Scrape down sides of bowl; cover with cloth.

4Let rise about 30 minutes, until double in bulk.

5Grease 12 large muffin cups.

6Stir down raised dough. Spoon into muffin cups, 1/2 full.

7Let rise for 20 to 30 minutes or until dough reaches tops of muffin cups.

8Bake in 400° oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

9Yields 12 rolls.
