- 1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2/3 c. cocoa powder
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 12 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.

3Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

4Add to butter mixture.

5Stir in chips and nuts.

6Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

7Bake 8 to 10 minutes or just until set.

8Cool slightly.

9Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

10Cool completely. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
