Doubly Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c. cocoa powder
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 12 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

    Heat oven to 350°.

    In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.

    Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

    Add to butter mixture.

    Stir in chips and nuts.

    Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake 8 to 10 minutes or just until set.

    Cool slightly.

    Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

    Cool completely. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
