- 2 pkg. yeast
- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. lard or 2 c. Crisco
- 5 eggs, beaten
- 1 qt. and 1 pt. warm water
Directions

1Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl.

2Add sugar, salt, shortening and beaten eggs.

3Use bread flour and add a little at a time, kneading well to make a soft, spongy dough.

4Let rise 2 hours or until doubled.

5Divide dough into 4 parts.

6Roll out, one part at a time, to 3/4-inch thickness.

7Cut with doughnut cutter and let stand 1 hour.

8Drop into deep fat (375°) and fry until golden brown.
