- 1/2 pound butter or margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 quart milk
- 4 packages yeast, active dry
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 12 cups flour, all-purpose
- 6 large eggs
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Let cool until lukewarm.

3Add yeast.

4Cream butter or margarine with sugar.

5Add beaten eggs.

6Now to the butter mixture alternate flour and milk until used up.

7Knead in bowl until dough does not stick to hands.

8Let dough rise for 2 or 3 hours until double in bulk.

9Roll out on floured board to half-inch thickness.

10Cut with floured glass.

11Fry in deep fat until lightly brown.

12Cool and sprinkle with powered sugar or fill with jelly or lekvar.
