Ingredients
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 3/4 c. mashed potatoes (instant can be used)
- 6 c. plain flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2In large mixing bowl, combine hot milk, shortening, sugar and salt.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Mix eggs and mashed potatoes into yeast mixture.

5Add flour and stir. Knead on lightly floured surface for 10 minutes.

6Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top.

7Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

8Roll dough out until about 1/2-inch thick.

9Cut with floured doughnut cutter.

10Place on lightly floured surface, cover and let double in bulk.

11Cook in deep hot oil, turning once, each side being golden brown.
