- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2/3 c. dried cherries
Directions

1Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl.

2Cut in 6 tablespoons butter with two knives or a pastry blender until the mixture looks like fine meal.

3In a separate bowl, mix together egg, buttermilk and vanilla.

4Mix liquid ingredients slowly with dry ingredients.

5Use fingers or a fork. Add dried fruit (cherries, cranberries, raisins, etc.).

6Pat into 8-inch diameter disc on an ungreased cookie sheet.

7Bake in a preheated 400° oven for 18 to 20 minutes.
