- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 unbaked pie shell (9-inch)
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup pecan halves
Directions

1Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the bottom of the pie shell.

2Combine the corn syrup, sugar and salt in a bowl and mix well.

3Stir in the eggs, butter and vanilla.

4Add the pecans and mix gently.

5Spoon into the prepared pie shell.

6Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

7Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees.

8Bake for 45 minutes longer or until set.
