- 2 c. dark molasses
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. boiling water
- 6 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar.

2Beat in eggs.

3Stir in molasses. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with water.

4Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet.

5Test one cookie, if it cracks open, the dough is too stiff.

6If the cookie flattens, the dough needs more flour.

7Bake at 350° for about 8 to 10 minutes.
