- 2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. milk
Directions

1Sift together the flour, soda and salt.

2In separate bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla.

3Add egg to creamed mixture and beat until fluffy.

4Add dry ingredients plus milk to creamed mixture and stir until smooth.

5Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

6Flatten with bottom of glass which has been dipped into sugar.

7Bake in a preheated 350° to 400° oven for about 12 minutes.

8Cool.

9Yields 5 1/2 dozen 2-inch cookies.
