Ingredients

  • 1 large cake yeast
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 qt. scalded milk, cooled to lukewarm
  • 12 c. flour or more until proper consistency
  • 6 eggs
  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water with the 2 tablespoons of sugar.

    Add lukewarm milk and 1/2 of flour; mixture will be wet. Place flour mixture in greased bowl and let rise about 2 minutes. Add eggs, margarine, sugar, salt and remainder of flour.

    Knead until smooth and elastic.

    Let rise until double in size, about 1 1/2 hours.
