  • 1 lb. dry beans
  • 5 1/2 to 6 qt. water
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 1 pinch thyme (optional)
  • 4 large cloves garlic, diced
  • 12 to 15 beef cubes
  • 2 c. cold water
  • 3/4 c. Wondra flour
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • salt (vinegar optional) to taste
