- 2 lb. beef stew meat, cut in 1 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 medium onion
- 1 stalk celery
- 6 carrots
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 c. tomato juice
Directions

1Place meat in 11 x 7 x 1 1/2-inch pan.

2Slice onion. Diagonally slice celery.

3Pare carrots and cut into chunks.

4Add vegetables to baking pan.

5Blend salt, sugar and cornstarch. Sprinkle over ingredients in baking dish.

6Add tomato juice. Cover pan with sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil and crimp edges to seal lightly.

7Bake stew (do not stir) in slow oven (250°) for 4 hours.

8Makes 6 servings.
