Easy Brown Rice Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1 package brown rice pasta (be sure to read the label to make sure there's no wheat added in)
  • 1 lb ground bison or organic beef (optional)
  • If not using meat, choose some veggies to steam cauliflower,
  • broccoli,
  • carrots, etc) and serve as a side.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    In a large skillet over medium heat oil.

    Fry onions until the begin to soften.

    Add garlic until tender (not much more than a minute).

    (Optional) Add the meat and cook until brown.

    Stir in crushed tomatoes and spices and simmer.

    Season with salt and pepper and cook 30 minutes, until slightly thickened (the longer you can let it simmer, the more flavourful it will be).

    Boil pasta as per package instructions.

    If you are not using any meat, I suggest lightly steaming some additional vegetable as a side.
