Easy Buttermilk Biscuits

- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. solid vegetable shortening
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift together into a bowl, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

2Add solid vegetable shortening.

3With a fork, blend mixture until it resembles coarse meal; then stir in buttermilk. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly for 4 or 5 strokes.

4Roll or pat into a 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick round.

5Cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter (or glass).

6Place on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 450° oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
