Easy Butterscotch Squares

- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 c. brown sugar (1/2 light, 1/2 dark)
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. sifted unbleached flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped nuts (pecans or English walnuts)
- confectioners sugar
Directions

1In a medium saucepan, melt the butter, then add sugar, blending well.

2Set aside to cool.

3Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each.

4Blend flour and baking powder together, then add to mix.

5Add vanilla and nuts, making sure to blend thoroughly.

6Spread batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan; bake at 350° for approximately 30 minutes.

7Check with cake tester to be sure it is completely baked.

8While still warm, cut into squares and dust with confectioners sugar.
