Ingredients
- 8 c. flour
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 c. lukewarm water or milk
Directions

1Sift flour, sugar and salt together in a large bowl.

2Dissolve yeast in 1 cup of warm water.

3Make a cavity in the center of the flour; put in shortening, egg and yeast mixture.

4Blend well.

5Add the remaining warm water gradually.

6Mix well until a soft dough is formed.

7Knead dough for about 5 minutes on a lightly floured board.

8Let it stand in a warm place until it doubles its size. Shape dough and place in greased pan.

9Let it rise again about 45 minutes.

10Bake in a 450° oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

11Yields 3 dozen.
