Easy Floated Bread Pudding

  • white bread, stale, 6 slices
  • 3 c. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. raisins

    Beat eggs slightly; add sugar, salt, vanilla and eggs to the milk.

    Butter slices of bread and arrange in 1 1/2-quart baking dish, buttered side down, with raisins between slices.

    Pour liquid mixture over them and let stand for 1 hour.

    Dot top with butter; bake about 1 hour at 350°.

    Serve while hot with hard sauce or cream or plain.
