- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg, unbeaten
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. each ginger, cinnamon and ground cloves
- granulated sugar
Directions

1Combine shortening and sugars. Add egg.

2Beat until fluffy. Add molasses and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Chill dough. Roll into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place 2-inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.
