  • 6 slices white bread
  • 8 oz. Cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 c. whole milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Directions

    Lightly butter deep baking dish.

    Using 3 slices of white bread, cutting one slice in two (butter as desired), place in baking dish so that all three slices fit tightly.

    Top with cheese. Do the other three slices in the same order; top with cheese so that it is layered.

    Beat eggs and milk with salt and pepper.

    Pour mixture on top of layered bread and cheese.

    Refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes or until done as desired.

    Serves 4 to 6.
