  • 1 c. butter or shortening
  • 2 c. unsweetened hot applesauce
  • 1 c. chopped raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. each cloves, cinnamon and vanilla
  • 3 1/2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in little hot water
  • 3 1/2 c. flour

    Sift flour before measuring; mix in order given and bake at 350° for 1 hour or until done.

    By adding 1 cup mixed candied fruit, this makes a delicious fruit cake.

    It can be baked in loaf pan or cupcakes.
