Elegant Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • freshly ground pepper
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1 c. seasoned bread crumbs
  • 4 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2/3 c. white wine
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 bay leaf

Directions

    Crush the garlic and rub on both sides of pork chops.

    Season with pepper.

    Dip chops in flour.

    Beat egg whites with the water. Place chops in this mixture, then roll in the bread crumbs. Refrigerate 1/2 hour.

    Brown chops in margarine and oil.

    Remove chops to a square casserole dish. To remaining margarine in pan, lightly brown onion.

    Add the wine, beef broth and bay leaf. Simmer for 2 minutes, then pour over pork chops. Cover and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 350°.

    Remove bay leaf and serve.
