  • 7 or 8 red potatoes
  • 8 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pt. whipping cream
  • 1/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp. butter, melted

    Boil potatoes in jackets; cook, peel and shred on medium grater.

    Shred cheese on same grater; do not wash in between uses. Butter a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.

    Alternate layers of potatoes and cheese.

    Sprinkle salt on each layer.

    Pour whipped cream over potato-cheese mix.

    Top with bread crumbs and butter mixture and bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.
