- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 large egg
- 2 3/4 c. all-purpose unbleached flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375°.

2Cream butter.

3Add egg.

4Combine flour, baking powder and salt.

5Add flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, half at a time, beating constantly.

6Alternating with 1 cup of milk, beat in vanilla.

7Bake for 25 minutes in a greased 10-inch square baking pan.

8Serve warm from pan.
