Ingredients
- 1 c. mashed potatoes
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 3 c. warm potato water
- 3 c. flour
Directions

1Combine potatoes, shortening, sugar and salt.

2Dissolve yeast in potato water and add to potato mixture.

3Stir in baking powder and flour and let stand until mixture begins to rise.

4Work in additional flour so that dough can be handled and kneaded.

5Pinch off amount needed and shape rolls.

6Put remainder in the refrigerator.

7Form into rolls of desired shape and size.

8Sweet rolls and rings may be made by adding fruits, nuts and spices as desired.

9Bake at 450° until browned.
