- 1 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 cake compressed yeast
- 1 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Add the shortening, salt and sugar; allow to cool to lukewarm.

3Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water; add to mixture. Add the flour to the liquid gradually, mixing well after each addition until a soft dough is formed.

4Cover the bowl tightly, set in warm place, and allow to rise until double in bulk.

5Turn onto a floured board; knead until the dough can be easily handled and mold into rolls.

6Place in a well-greased pan; let rise again until double in bulk.

7Bake in a hot oven (375°) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
