Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter or oleo
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 qt. or more canned fruit (sweetened and juicy)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. milk

Directions

    Melt butter in 8 x 8 x 2-inch cake pan.

    Sift together the sugar, flour, salt and baking powder.

    Add milk and stir to blend. Add butter, leaving a coating in the pan.

    Stir together and pour back into pan.

    Add fruit to top of batter, but do not stir.

    Bake at 375° for about 40 minutes until pudding rises to top and browns as a crust.
