  • 4 c. (1-inch thick) celery slices
  • 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
  • cream
  • 1/4 c. diced pimiento (optional)
  • 1/2 c. soft breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 c. toasted slivered almonds
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter

Directions

    Cook the celery in a small amount of boiling water until crisp (about 8 minutes); drain.

    Mix with the water chestnuts, soup and diced pimiento.

    Place in a 1-quart casserole.

    Top with the soft breadcrumbs, tossed with the slivered almonds and melted butter. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
