  • 2 large cans tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. salt (rounded)
  • 1 tsp. pepper (scant)
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • crushed Melba toast
  • 1/4 lb. butter

Directions

    Mix tomatoes, salt, pepper and brown sugar very well.

    Pour into shallow baking dish.

    Cover with crushed Melba toast and then cover entire top with lumps of butter.

    Bake in slow oven at 275° or 300° for 4 hours.

    Serves 4 plentifully.
