Ingredients

  • 5 c. white flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cardamom
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 1/2 pkg. yeast (dry)
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 stick margarine, melted
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 egg

Directions

    Mix together in a bowl the first 4 ingredients.

    Mix together the yeast and warm water. Set aside.

    Heat margarine and milk to lukewarm.

    Melt margarine.

    Scramble 1 egg

    and add a little of the margarine/milk mixture to the egg.

    Pour the yeast into the dry ingredients, then add the rest of the liquids and stir well. I use my Kitchen Aid to knead the dough for a few minutes.

    Let the dough set with a towel over it for about 1 hour.

    Roll out into buns and let rise again about 45 minutes before baking.

    Bake at 425° for about 10 minutes.

    Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
