Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 lb. sifted cake flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. whiskey or brandy (I use apricot)
  • 1 lb. white raisins
  • 1 lb. chopped pecans
  • 6 egg whites, almost stiffly beaten
  • whiskey or brandy cheesecloth

Directions

    Cream together butter and sugar.

    Beat in egg yolks.

    Add dry ingredients, flour, salt and baking powder alternately with 1/2 cup whiskey.

    Stir in white raisins and nuts.

    Fold in beaten egg whites.

    Turn into well-greased and sugared Bundt or angel food pan.

    Bake in preheated 300° oven for approximately 2 hours.

    Cool, remove from pan.

    Wrap cake in cheesecloth wet with additional whiskey.

    Wrap in foil and store in tin, tightly covered.
