  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c. melted shortening

Directions

    In a mixing bowl combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt.

    Add milk, eggs and shortening.

    Beat for 1 minute. Pour into a greased 9-inch square baking pan.

    Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes or until bread is golden brown and tests done. Yield:
