- 1 cake compressed yeast
- 2 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
- 1/2 c. shortening or butter
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 5 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Crumble yeast into bowl; add milk.

2Gradually add sugar and salt.

3Cut in shortening or butter.

4Stir in flour alternately with yeast mixture, beating after each addition.

5Beat until dough is smooth and well blended.

6Scrape dough from sides of bowl. Cover with damp cloth; let rise in warm place for 1 hour.

7Punch down with spoon.

8Drop by teaspoons into lightly greased pans. Cover with damp cloth, let rise 20 minutes or double in size. Bake at 425° for 18 to 20 minutes.
