Ingredients

  • 5 c. plain flour
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1/2 c. cold mashed potatoes
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water

Directions

    In mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, yeast, potatoes, oil, sugar and salt.

    Beat at low speed for 1/2 minute.

    Add warm water and at high speed, beat for 3 minutes.

    Work in the rest of flour by hand.

    Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours; punch down and turn out on floured board.

    Work slightly.

    Cover and let rest 10 minutes.

    Shape into buns and place on greased pan.

    Let rise until doubled their size.

    Bake at 400° until done (usually about 20 minutes).
