  • 1 c. apple cider
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 (5 lb.) cook before eating ham half
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. orange juice

    Combine apple cider and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Set aside.

    Remove skin from ham.

    Place ham, fat side up, on a cutting board.

    Score fat in a diamond design and stud with cloves.

    Place ham in a shallow baking pan, fat side up; coat top with brown sugar.

    Insert meat thermometer, making sure it does not touch fat or bone.

    Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 22 to 25 minutes per pound, about 2 hours, basting every 20 to 30 minutes with cider mixture.
