- 1/2 c. margarine, softened
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. each: cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice or cloves
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 1/2 c. fig preserves with juice, chopped
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 c. coconut (optional)
- 1 c. raisins (optional)
Directions

1Cream margarine and sugar until light; add eggs, beating after each.

2Stir in vanilla.

3Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, mixing well after each addition.

4Stir in remaining ingredients.

5Bake in a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan for 50 minutes at 350°.
