Ingredients
- 1 c. chopped figs
- 1/3 c. water
- 1 c. butter or regular margarine
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- pecan or walnut halves (optional)
Directions

1Cook figs with water, stirring frequently, until thickened, about 5 minutes.

2Set aside to cool.

3Beat butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.

4Beat in egg and vanilla to blend well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

5Mix into creamed mixture, then stir in cooled figs.

6Drop by teaspoon 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.

7Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.

8Makes 4 dozen.
