Ingredients

  • 6 qt. figs
  • 4 lb. sugar
  • 7 1/2 qt. water
  • 1 c. baking soda

Directions

    Sprinkle ripe figs with 1 cup baking soda, cover with 6-quarts of boiling water and let stand 15 minutes.

    Drain and wash in 2 baths of clean, cold water and drain.
